Today we're going to talk about most common reasons why some people fail their ICBC Road test.
Number one - shoulder checks, some people don't do shoulder checks at all or they're doing shoulder check too early or too late.
Number two - speed driving too fast or driving too slow some people do get nervous during road test which is totally understandable and they think if they're driving slower than the speed limit for example if they're doing 40 and 50 kilometer Zone that it's okay it's not now you're affecting the other Road users behind you so respect the poster speed limit and try to maintain close to the posted speed limit.
Number three - rolling stops, not doing complete stop on a stop sign or on a red light before turning right number
Number Four will be your turns either you're over-steering or under-steering during your turns
Number five will be a gap, so if you're waiting too long to turn right or left or you're taking unsafe Gap in front of other vehicles that will be considered dangerous action.
How to complete a smooth right turn.
In this video I'm going to demonstrate how to complete a smooth right turn. Before we begin with this video take a look at my hand positioning, if you were to imagine the steering wheel as a clock my hands would be at nine and three o'clock. This method allowed me to have more control of my vehicle and make smoother turns. This is where I teach all my students to place their hands while driving. Hand placement is very important and is something that ICBC looks at, during all their driving tests when turning. Notice how I crossed my hands over, this allows me to turn right smoothly and avoid over steering or understeering.
Most common reasons why your vehicle might be turn away from ICBC road test!!!
Someone asked me if they are allowed to take their personal vehicle out on the road for an ICBC road test, or if it has to be a driving school vehicle. You are allowed to take your personal vehicle for an ICBC road test as long as your vehicle is meeting ICBC standards. The most common reasons why ICBC would turn your vehicle away, for example: look at your dash—do you have any warning lights? For example, a red airbag light. If so, get that fixed before your road test. ICBC will not conduct a road test in that vehicle if you have a red airbag light on. Check your signals: right and left signals from the front and the back of the vehicle—make sure they're working. Your headlights—make sure they're working and they are not badly cracked. Is your horn working? Do you have valid insurance? Do you have gas for the road test? Now, check all four tires: do you have enough air? Do you have enough tread? Are you missing any lug nuts, for example, from all four tires? Even if you're missing a single lug nut, ICBC will not take that vehicle out on the road for safety reasons. Ask somebody to stand at the back and check if the brake lights are working properly; a minimum of two out of three brake lights need to be in a working condition. Aftermarket tint: when it comes to the driver and passenger-side windows, if there's aftermarket tint, ICBC will refuse to take that vehicle out on the road. The driver-side and passenger-side doors and windows need to open from the outside and inside, and windows need to be rolled up and rolled down. When it comes to the windshield, the front windshield, if it's an aftermarket tint and it is more than 7.5 centimetres, ICBC will refuse to take that vehicle out on the road as well.
